From the Treasure House: Jewels from the Library of The Chinese University of Hong Kong

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library is pleased to announce a new publication,  " From the Treasure House: Jewels from the Library of The Chinese University of Hong Kong ". It is a commemorative volume to celebrate the University’s 50th anniversary with a joint exhibition held with the Art Museum in 2013.

This special volume features 120 selected titles and rare items from the Library’s collections spanning over 3,500 years of time. The treasures include Oracle Bones of Shang dynasty, Chinese and English rare books, Chinese calligraphy and paintings, manuscripts and letters of renowned scholars. Amongst them are two rare architecture titles, namely,  Les dix livres d’Architecture de Vitruve  written by Vitruvius, which is regarded as the most important single architectural treatise to survive from the Greco-Roman period,  and A Parallel of the Ancient Architecture with the Modern written  by Roland Fréart （1606–1676）, an exponent of French Classicism in the seventeenth century.

《書海驪珠：香港中文大學圖書館珍藏專輯》

為慶祝香港中文大學成立五十周年，香港中文大學圖書館二零一三年於文物圖書館合辦「書海驪珠：香港中文大學圖書館珍藏展」，並輯錄紀念集《書海驪珠：香港中文大學圖書館珍藏專輯》，紀念集現已出版。

書名：《書海驪珠：香港中文大學圖書館珍藏專輯》

《專輯》收錄圖書館珍藏一百二十種，藏品跨越三千五百年，有商朝甲骨、中西文古籍善本、中國名家書畫、手稿及信札。所錄有兩種建築學要籍，一為古羅馬作家維特魯威（Vitruvius）所撰《建築十書》，此乃現存最重要之希臘、羅馬時期建築學專著；另一乃十七世紀法國古典主義倡導者羅蘭‧弗瑞阿特（1606–1676）所撰《古典建築與現代建築之比較》。
